In 2001, Sable expanded its residential profile to include commercial property with the acquisition of Kensington Gate in Calgary’s trendy Kensington Area. Kensington Gate is comprised of a mix of 80 residential units, nearly 12,000 square feet of office space, and sixteen retail bays totaling nearly 27,000 square feet of rentable space, coupled with four levels of parking. Kensington Gate is considered by the industry to be an extremely rare and unique find with its riverfront location and mixed use.

Sable also has an on-site manager who manages both the commercial and residential units, thereby ensuring prompt service with respect to issues that may arise, and a hands-on approach to management, which is consistent with Sable’s philosophy. In 2004, Kensington Gate won Building of the Year in Calgary in the category of a building under 100 units.
 
Roxboro River Shoppes consists of 22,000 square feet of retail space and an underground parkade, located on 4th Street SW in between 25th and 26th Avenues, in the Mission District, steps from the Elbow River. In recent years, Sable, in conjunction with architects Abugov Kaspar, undertook the redevelopment of this mall. Sable acted as General Contractor for the project, co-ordinating all aspects of the development including responsiblity for obtaining permits, tendering, hiring and supervising trades and ensuring sound renovations were completed to the Sable standard. The renovations were a unique and exciting opportunity to bring new and significant retail space to a thriving Calgary market.
